My commitment to a strong, borderless civil society

Through culture and art

As a volunteer leading member of several associations and NGOs, I am actively involved in collective actions aimed at addressing the challenges facing puppeteers and the professional puppetry arts sector. My involvement focuses on three main areas:

1. Improve the training and working conditions of puppeteer artists and the professional ecosystem, while strengthening the visibility of puppetry arts in our societies:

The puppetry arts sector often remains on the margins of mainstream artistic disciplines, despite its cultural richness and expressive potential. Through my work with NGOs, I seek to improve the training of puppeteers, not only by providing them with learning opportunities adapted to contemporary demands, but also by ensuring professional support once their training is completed. This involves advocating for fair working conditions, raising awareness among cultural institutions about the recognition of this profession, and supporting artists in securing funding for their projects.

By increasing the visibility of puppetry in our societies, we create spaces where these art forms can reach a wider audience, foster creativity, and offer a complementary alternative to more consensual forms of expression. Through events, festivals, and collaborations with other disciplines, we contribute to the growth of this art and its resonance in the contemporary cultural landscape.

2. Promote better mutual understanding through cultural and artistic cooperation projects on an international scale:

My commitment also includes the establishment and development of international artistic cooperation projects. I firmly believe that art is a powerful vehicle for dialogue between cultures. Through the initiatives we lead, we build bridges between puppeteer artists from different countries, facilitating the exchange of know-how, practices, and ideas.

These collaborations transcend geographical and cultural barriers, fostering greater mutual understanding between peoples. By participating in international projects, artists not only share their technical skills; they also contribute their unique cultural perspectives, creating fertile ground for artistic innovation. This contributes to the enrichment not only of the artists themselves, but also of the societies in which they operate.

Through collective action, we also encourage artistic residencies, international co-productions and exchanges between festivals, allowing artists to work in varied contexts and to enrich their creations with foreign influences.

3. Supporting and promoting Ukrainian culture beyond borders:

As an artist of Ukrainian origin, I feel a special responsibility to promote Ukrainian culture beyond its borders, particularly in the context of the war and the current humanitarian crisis. Through the associations and NGOs in which I participate, I support the dissemination of Ukrainian culture internationally. This translates into initiatives aimed at promoting Ukrainian artists, preserving cultural heritage threatened by the war, and highlighting the richness of the Ukrainian artistic tradition, of which puppet theater is an integral part.

Together, we organize exhibitions, performances, and educational projects to raise international awareness of Ukrainian cultural heritage. My goal is to maintain the vitality of this culture, despite the challenges artists face on the ground. This approach not only helps preserve a precious heritage, but also highlights the resilience of a people and the importance of culture as a unifying force in times of crisis.

At the same time, we support displaced and refugee Ukrainian artists by providing them with opportunities to work and collaborate within international artistic networks. In this way, we contribute to the emancipation and empowerment of artists who, despite adversity, continue to bring Ukrainian culture to life around the world.

In short, these collective actions aim not only to improve the working conditions of puppeteers and promote cultural cooperation, but also to strengthen the visibility of Ukrainian culture at a time when it is more threatened than ever. My commitment is part of a global vision where art becomes a powerful tool for social transformation, intercultural dialogue, and the preservation of cultural identities in a constantly changing world.
